Back 2 Reality

Well...it was back to reality today. I agreed to attend a week long Autism course here in Manhattan and it started bright and early at 8AM this morning. After dragging myself out of bed and making a HUGE cup of coffee, I managed to get myself out the door in time.

Although I had a bad attitude about it last night (after having to do FOUR pre-tests for the class today), the class was actually fine. I think I will learn a lot about data collection and how to control behavior for learning purposes, which is exactly what was lacking last year in my skill repertoire while working with my Autistic students. We have half days the rest of the week so I will be able to have a little bit of summer left after noon each day.

The school that I work at has been under construction since last school year and next Monday I will FINALLY be able to see my newer, bigger, and better speech room! I have been driving by the school every couple of days to see the progress that's taking place, but from the outside I can't see much! We will be allowed into the building on the 16th and I will be spending most of my days next week preparing my room and getting things ready for school to start. Officially, I have to report to school on the 19th and then it begins....{gasp!}working everyday again. I 'll have to get used to that since I've been off for the summer since the end of May, but it will be fine. Truth be told, I'm actually looking forward to being busy again and am expecting that time will just fly by til November. Mark and I are so looking forward to his R&R and spending time together!

  1. The blog looks great! Good job! Sorry you had to go back to work. I know it was hard, but at least you'll keep busy.
