The first annual "Autism Meet Optimism" walk was today! The purpose of the walk was to raise funds for local community activities for children and their families affected by autism, with the hope of starting a therapy center in Manhattan very soon. The slogan, "where there is a will, there is a way" has to do with a little boy that actually goes to my school. I will get to work with him next year!
I signed Mark and I up for the walk last month and we had a really fun time while supporting such a great cause. As a Speech Language Pathologist, I work with children affected by autism on a daily basis and see how this disorder affects children and their families. I really hope that soon a cure will be found!
Megan {my previous intern from the fall semester} was at the walk. It was great to see her!
