New Craft Table!

For months now, my craft area has been in shambles. When Mark came home from Iraq we did a little rearranging in our home and moved his office space into what was my craft area. I have been sewing on a wobbly folding table forever and I have been wanting a new craft table to sew and scrapbook on, one that won't wobble and bounce as I'm sewing.

Everything I loved in stores or online was super pricey so I then turned to this really cool "online" yard sale we have here in Manhattan/Ft. Riley. People try to sell their unwanted furniture/clothes etc. on this site and you can search for whatever it is you might need!

I wanted something simple, yet unique. I love farm tables and thought one would make a great sewing/craft table. One morning I was looking through the online items and came across this very cute farm table that was badly painted and in need of some TLC. It was selling for $65 and I fell in love with it right away. I called up my husband to see if he would be willing to turn it into something fabulous...he said yes {he loves projects like this!}. Turns out Mark knew the husband of the gal selling the table {yes, we live in small town!}--they are in the same unit together--so the transaction went quickly. Mark went that day to pick up the table. This is what it looked like when he brought it home:

I wanted it to be a natural wood color instead of painted. We {and of course I mean Mark!} decided to strip the paint and stain it a dark brown. Mark worked so hard on this table, it took him about 2 days just to strip the paint and prepare the wood for stain:

The end result turned out even better than I imagined it would! This table is beautiful and functional at the same time. I have it all set up in my craft area now. It's ready to tackle my next sewing projects: a new summer quilt and a dog bed {stay tuned to the blog for more on the quilt later}. Don't you just love it?! I do!

  2. I'm a bit jealous of your talent for seeing that table as it was and seeing its potential! It looks beautiful!
