Nothing beats rest and relaxation...and I can think of nothing better after spending a year away from your husband than to get away for a couple of nights and reconnect with each other. We were very fortunate to be able to take a couple days out of our busy schedule and spend two nights together with no distractions. This fabulous bed & breakfast, Southmoreland Inn, was within walking distance to The Plaza and several museums. Just about two hours from Manhattan, it was a great choice for a short mini-vacation. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon and this was our view coming up the driveway, isn't it fabulous?!!

This was our room, cute--huh?! Each room was named after people who were important to the history of the inn. We stayed in the Ella and Jacob Loose room. It even had a cute side balcony with a swing so we could enjoy some fresh air!

Here is the breakfast room off the main hallway. This is where breakfast was served each morning. I just love the fire place and all the charm!

Here is the kitchen--it was small, but they were so efficient in preparing all the food for breakfast each morning. We were allowed in here so I was able to watch some of the prep work that went into getting breakfast ready. They often started the night before!

A sun room was on the side of the house. We gathered here at night and were able to meet some of the other guests staying at the inn. It was great! They even had board games to play, Mark and I played a game of Scrabble one night. It was fun to just hang out.
Each night, they served hot tea and coffee along with fresh, homemade cookies! This was another great perk to the B&B that we really enjoyed, nothing beats the smell of fresh cookies baking in the oven!

Every morning we were served a fabulous breakfast! It usually started with fruit of some sort and they always had either muffins or bread. The second morning for breakfast we were served chocolate zucchini bread and creme' brulee french toast...to-die-for-GOOD! They had a cook book for sale and one came home with us {are you really surprised about that?!}. I can't wait to try some of the recipes when we have guests stay with us!

We came home well rested, reconnected, and ready to tackle the rest of this year. I'm hoping that a vacation, even a small one, can be something we strive for each year. It was amazing!
Sounds like you had a good time! Glad you got to spend some time together with no distractions. That breakfast looks yummy! You'll have to let me know if you try any good recipes.
