St. Louis Trip: Summer 2012

We enjoyed a long weekend in St. Louis visiting my dear friend Amy and her family. It's always fun to get out of town and we love traveling to St. Louis...it's not too far, there's a ton to do there, and we always have a fun time!

During this visit we ventured over to the St. Louis Zoo for some fun. Although it was a hot day, we enjoyed seeing the animals and riding a train. Evan slept through most of the animal exhibits...after all it's hard work riding around in a stroller all day!

I won't bore you with all the pictures I took of the animals...I'll just post a few of my favorites! Mark took this picture of a penguin swimming, I thought he was so cute treading water! When we walked through the penguin exhibit, it was feeding time! All the penguins got really excited when the worker brought fish for them. It was amazing to watch, she would take a LIVE fish and feed it to them, they would swallow the fish WHOLE. Amazing!

I've always love the zebras!

The hippos were another one of my favorites! There were several hippos all together. They were HUGE! They swam around under the water and then they would surface and start "fighting" like in this picture. Not sure if they were really upset or that's just what they do, but it was interesting to watch.
Like I said earlier, Evan slept through most of the adventure, but he did wake up for the train ride! He wasn't too thrilled with the tunnels during the ride {we didn't know there were tunnels!} and cried a little bit which didn't make mommy or daddy too happy. We hate it when something scares him and we can't do anything about it. I guess that just means we're parents now and want what's best for him! He survived though and was ok!

Our family of three...

Amy and I first met in graduate school elevan years ago and remain the best of friends to this day! So here we are...graduate school, marriage, and two babies later...love this girl with my whole heart!

After the zoo, we spent time just hanging out! Sunday was church, lunch, and pedicures {girl time!}. Ava loved getting to meet Evan, she wanted to hold him and give him hugs. She was so good with him too! Here they are cuddling on the couch, I think Evan really enjoyed the interaction with her!

Before we knew it, our weekend was over and it was time to head back to The Little Apple! We always enjoy spending time with friends that are like family! Thanks for another great visit...can't wait to do it again SOON!
