Let's Start at the Beginning!

My husband and I were married one year and one day ago; our journey together as husband and wife started 366 days ago, but our journey's roots really began much earlier than this last year....in high school! Yes that's right, Mark and I are high school sweethearts. We dated for 2 1/2 years and really became the best of friends during that time in our lives.

So...how did we reunite and end up married you ask? Well...through a series of events that included a high school reunion and email, Mark and I got back in touch with each other after ten years! The weirdest part, after emailing back and fourth we discovered Mark lived just a few miles away from me in Atlanta, Georgia. We met for coffee one night and the rest is history! We dated on and off for another 2 years. Mark joined the Army and we continued dating long distance.

Our family is "Army Strong" and the saying that "Home is Where the Army Sends You" is so true! Mark's first duty station was at Fort Riley in Manhattan, Kansas. We are living here now and much to my surprise, I really like the town! I L-O-V-E my job and have made some good friends. The "Little Apple" as they call Manhattan has a lot of charm and diversity, anytime you want to experience the mid-west, just come on over!

My husband is currently deployed and is expected home next February or March. Since Mark left, sometimes it seems as if life is going along at a snails pace and other times it seems to fly. Getting used to life without my husband being around daily has been a challenge--especially since we had just gotten used to being together everyday! I will be traveling this summer to make time fly even faster and in the process will be visiting many good friends and family. Who knows, maybe you'll even end up in our blog! After all, life is a journey and I intend to document ours to share with all of you!!
